The “Catch the Queso” Promotion runs through September 21.

LUBBOCK, Texas, August, 19, 2025 — Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine and hand-crafted Mexican Margaritas, is bringing back a beloved piece of its history with the return of the Abuelo’s Queso Ball © – a sports-themed stress ball with an unbeatable offer: one free Chile con Queso with a purchase every visit for the life of the ball.

First introduced in 1993, the Abuelo’s Queso Ball © began as a fun way to support local charity golf tournaments. Over time, the promotion expanded to include themed stress balls – basketballs, footballs, baseballs, and even hockey pucks – distributed at universities, sporting events, and community programs across restaurant locations. The queso ball quickly became a nostalgic fan favorite and a symbol of Abuelo’s community spirit.

Abuelo’s will donate $1 to the Honor Flight Network for every Chile con Queso or Queso Diablo Appetizer sold during their annual “Queso for Heroes” promotion.

LUBBOCK, Texas, Nov. 4, 2024 — Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, is teaming up again this year with the Honor Flight Network, a national nonprofit organization, to help raise funds for U.S. veterans to visit national memorials in Washington, D.C. that honor their service, free of charge.

Guests can participate in Abuelo’s “Queso for Heroes” promotion Wednesday, November 6, through Monday, November 11. Abuelo’s will donate $1 to the Honor Flight Network for each Chile con Queso and Queso Diablo appetizer sold at any location, online at abuelos.com or through the Abuelo’s app. Additionally, a custom donation button will be available via online ordering on abuelos.com where guests can contribute an additional amount to the organization.

Teachers and faculty with a valid school I.D. will receive a key tag for free queso.

LUBBOCK, Texas, July 29, 2024 — Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine and hand-crafted Mexican Margaritas, is celebrating back to school by gifting teachers and school faculty free queso for the school year. Recipients of this gift will receive a Teacher Appreciation key tag they can use to get an order of Abuelo’s signature Chile con Queso when they make a purchase during each visit to Abuelo’s throughout the school year.
