Funds Raised During Abuelo’s “Queso For Heroes” Promotion Support Honor Flight in Transporting Veterans to Washington, D.C.

LUBBOCK, Texas, November 10, 2020 — Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, salutes Veterans Day again this year by partnering with Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization that transports American veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials to those who served and sacrificed for the nation. During the restaurant’s “Queso for Heroes” promotion, Abuelo’s will donate $1 to Honor Flight for each Chile con Queso appetizer sold from Saturday, Nov. 7 to Wednesday, Nov. 11, in every restaurant location.

To Our Valued Guests,

At Abuelo’s, our primary focus is on providing an excellent customer experience, one component of which is ensuring guest and team member safety as a top priority. As our communities continue to feel the increased impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we feel it is one of our shared responsibilities to protect the health and safety of our guests, team members and communities.

Each of our restaurants are managed by ServSafe certified managers and follow strict safety and quality assurance standards. Like many, we are following the guidance of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health officials. In doing so, we have taken the following preventative steps for our guests and team members:

  • Strongly reinforcing hand washing and sanitation procedures.
  • Reinforcing strict guidelines set forth by the health department – including personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitation, as well as cleaning standards for washing, rinsing and sanitizing surfaces including sinks, tables, equipment, utensils, thermometers and public areas that include tables and contact areas in the front of the house.
  • Continuing to reinforce our strict operating procedures including our long-standing policy of not letting employees work while sick.
  • Increasing the frequency of our daily cleaning efforts.
  • Educating our team members on the COVID-19 threat and preventative measures and guidelines outlined by the CDC.

Our food supply chain is stable and safe and is not presently impacted by this outbreak.

Abuelo’s to Celebrate National Margarita Day with Fundraiser to Help End Childhood Hunger

For Every Premium Margarita Sold on February 22, Abuelo’s Will Donate $2 to No Kid Hungry

PLANO, Texas — February 13, 2019 – Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, announced today that the restaurant chain will celebrate National Margarita Day on February 22 with a fundraiser to help end childhood hunger. For each Premium Margarita sold at any of its locations, Abuelo’s will donate $2 to No Kid Hungry, a national campaign working to end childhood hunger in America.

Each Abuelo’s guest who purchases a premium hand-crafted margarita at Abuelo’s on National Margarita Day will receive a No Kid Hungry sticker to show support for the cause, which provides the one in seven children living with hunger with the nutritious meals they need. Beverages included in the National Margarita Day fundraiser for No Kid Hungry include the popular El Jefe Margarita, Platinum Hand-Shaken Margarita, Skinny Margarita and Cerveza Rita.

“Giving back to our communities is part of our DNA at Abuelo’s, and we partner with programs that benefit children, education and our military nationwide,” said Bob Lin, President of Abuelo’s. “We’ve worked with No Kid Hungry for several years, most recently to celebrate Abuelo’s 30th anniversary, when we raised $12,000 dollars to fight childhood hunger. Abuelo’s Raises $10,000 for Honor Flight Network In November “Queso for Heroes” Fundraiser

Funds Raised During Veterans Day Promotion Will Send Up to 25 Veterans to Visit Washington, D.C. Memorials

 Crestview Hills, KY – December 13, 2019 – Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, famous for its authentic, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, raised $10,000 during its “Queso for Heroes” promotion to celebrate Veterans Day. The funds were raised in partnership with Honor Flight Network, an organization that transports American veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to those who served.

Abuelo’s donated $1 to Honor Flight for each sale of its popular Chile con Queso appetizer from Thursday, Nov. 7 to Monday, Nov. 11, in every restaurant location. Restaurant guests also had the opportunity to donate $5 to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win free entrees, appetizers, desserts or queso. Additionally, the company hosted Honor Flight representatives at its Lubbock, Texas location to raise awareness about the Honor Flight Network and its mission.

Honor Flight transported more than 21,000 veterans in 2018. The non-profit gives top priority to senior veterans as well as veterans who may be terminally ill. The organization honors veterans who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and plans to expand service to include veterans from more recent conflicts. The organization has flown more than 230,000 veterans since 2005, but the waiting list is long; currently, more than 38,000 are awaiting their Honor Flight.
