Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant Brings the Flavor of Mexico to Tyler
Abuelo’s to open at The Village at Cumberland Park, November 9
LUBBOCK, Texas – Lubbock-based Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurants, known for its classical Mexican style and top-quality cuisine, will open its first restaurant in Tyler on Monday,
November 9. The restaurant, located at The Village at Cumberland Park at 8926 S. Broadway Ave., is the company’s 40th site nationwide.
The new Abuelo’s restaurant will feature approximately 7,700-square-feet of interior space and will include a 1,000-square-foot outdoor, trellised patio. It will also feature a natural light skylight over an interior courtyard. The restaurant will seat approximately 250 guests and will employ between 80-100 employees.
“We designed Abuelo’s to have a gracious, yet friendly environment that’s compatible with our authentic, creative dishes,” said Mike Wright, Abuelo’s general manager in Tyler. “We are excited to bring our unique Mexican concept to Tyler and we look forward to being an active part of the community.”
Abuelo’s pre-opening training services will raise funds to benefit CASA for Kids of East Texas, a non-profit agency that advocates for the best interests of abused, neglected and dependent children in Smith, Van Zandt and Wood counties.
On opening day, November 9, the Tyler Chamber of Commerce will host a grand opening ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. Additionally on opening day, the first 100 guests who are seated beginning at 11 a.m., will receive a special “Savor the Flavor of Mexico” calendar that includes offers for free items monthly for the next 14 months. The calendar offers are valued at more than $200.
Abuelo’s, which has consistently been on the leading edge of Mexican cuisine, is famous for its creative, made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine, superior service and affordable prices. Abuelo’s also features a number of signature drinks including the La Grandeza Margarita, an award-winning Margarita recipe made with Gran Gala and served on the rocks or frozen; the El Jimador Platinum Margarita, a smooth, premium handmade Margarita with El Jimador Silver tequila and Agavero Orange; the 1800 Hand-Shaken Margarita, a custom built and hand-shaken Margarita featuring 1800 Reposado tequila that is served in a personal shaker; plus many others. Abuelo’s signature Sangria Swirl, a favorite among guests, features frozen Sangria swirled with frozen La Grandeza Margarita.

Meals at Abuelo’s are reasonably priced, with dinner costs of $7.99 to $24.99 and lunch costs of $7.29 to $13.29. All major credit cards are accepted.
